Five Reasons to Consider Watching Jesus Revolution

Let me begin by stating that it takes a lot of effort to convince me that I should watch the latest Christian movie. I have a lower opinion that most people do of these types of movies. However, I spent a few hours in a movie theater with this movie. And, I'm glad I did. In fact, I think it is worth your time to watch it. Here is why:

There is a clear picture of people searching for truth.

I have been convinced this is how people spend their time, searching for truth. When one path does not produce the expected result, an individual moves on to a different path. For many, this is a way of perpetual way of life.

There is a clear picture of biblical community.

The movie took a while to get there, but you will see a group of believers grow and depend on one another. You will see older believers impacted by younger believers.

There are reminders of churches declining when they get off mission.

At the first church service, you will see an old board hanging by the stage with hymn selections and average attendance. There is an outdated pulpit. The congregation is small and aged. The board refuses to accept "hippies" into their church and even walk out of a service when they are welcomed. You will hear the pastor say, "our doors are open for all people." Please note, the gospel is not compromised and they do not practice universalism.

There is a movement of God that helps a believer grow in his faith.

One quote that stood out to me was, "the voice of God is quiet, but the lies are loud." You will see a beautiful journey of a pastor being attentive to God and taking bold steps to lead his church. All of us could a little more of this in our life. God is capable of far more than we sometimes give him credit for. Dream a little bit about what your church could become.

There are some great lines should help encourage your faith.

Josiah: "Greg, why aren't you inside?" Greg: "I felt like worship alone tonight." Josiah: "I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure that's not how it works."

Wife to pastor - "How can you be so arrogant to think that God cannot work through your failures?"

Because this is based on a true story, you can figure out how it ended. You may know a person who lived through the Jesus movement. However, there are some quality parts toward the end of the movie that I do not want to spoil for you. Spend a few dollars and go watch it.
