25 Days of Advent - Dec 6

Psalm 89:1-4 – 1I will sing of the steadfast love of the Lord, forever; with my mouth I will make known your faithfulness to all generations. 2For I said, “Steadfast love will be built up forever; in the heavens you will establish your faithfulness.”  3You have said, “I have made a covenant with my chosen one; I have sworn to David my servant: 4‘I will establish your offspring forever, and build your throne for all generations.’ ” Selah

I love the quietness of the morning.  I wake up before anybody else in our family because I was focus on Jesus in the beginning of the day. You know, before the craziness of getting everybody where they need to be ON TIME. It seems everybody has different morning routines or traditions. Sleep in. Hit the snooze button as much as possible. Drink coffee. Have breakfast with the family. Jump into projects and tasks that need to be completed. Mornings throughout the week might even look different. In every morning, I want to remind you to declare the goodness of God early in your day.

Today, I want to offer simple reminders of how Jesus cares for each of us and what our response should be.

Jesus loves each of us forever.  The phrase steadfast love refers to the loyal love.  When the love of people around us run empty, the loyal love of Jesus remains full and will never run dry.

Jesus is faithful forever.  I have been disappointed in people this week. I'm actually tired of mediocre responses from people. It’s a good chance somebody disappointed you this week.  It’s also a good chance you were the disappointment.  There are always opportunities to display faithfulness to the people around us.  I’m so glad that Jesus’ faithfulness is on display forever and I never have to guess if it will show up.

Jesus has a covenant with his children.  As a born-again believer, I am an adopted child of God.  I have been sealed by the Holy Spirit.  My life and soul can never be taken out of Jesus’ hand.  The only reason that is possible is the grace of God in my life.  My efforts did not make this happen.

THOSE ARE GREAT THINGS TO HAVE IN OUR LIVES.  WHAT, THEN, SHOULD BE OUR RESPONSE?

Sing.  Not just sing, but worship.  Declare with your mouth out loud the goodness of God in your life.

Tell somebody.  I believe evangelism is a spiritual gift that God gives to some and not to others.  There are some Christians who are just better at spreading the gospel than others.  If you don’t have such a gift, that doesn’t remove your responsibility to tell another person about the love and faithfulness of Jesus Christ that is available to them.

Christmas is a season when people are open to hearing about Jesus.  No, people are not as open as they once were.  However, people are still open.  Fellow Christian, it might take several conversations for you to get to Jesus, but I encourage you to get there.  It is the most important part of the series of conversations.

WHO IS ONE PERSON THAT YOU CAN INVITE TO CHURCH THIS CHRISTMAS SEASON?  WOULD YOU LEAVE THE FIRST NAME IN THE COMMENTS, SO I CAN PRAY FOR YOU AND THEM?
